This deco dressing table has been transformed into a one-of-a-kind, statement piece.

It is painted in black eggshell (any lighter areas are the reflection of my floor/windows!). It has original artwork designed by myself, of a serene heron in the moonlight. The draws have dovetail joints and are bow fronted, giving a beautiful overall shape.

The walnut veneer on the top surface has had a few touch ups, but, as it was under glass, it has been pretty well preserved, regardless. It has a few hairline cracks (not noticeable) - I found it very hard to even pick them up in the photos! And two small sections that have been repaired at some point (please see photos without the glass). It has been very gently cleaned and waxed, so it looks gorgeous!

The glass on top has a few scratches, which again I found difficult to photo as once it’s on, they’re tricky to spot! (Please excuse reflections of my arms taking the photo!

The ‘metal’ strips on the middle draw and to the sides of the central draws, are made from wooden molding. To which I created a hammered metal look, applied gold leaf and gave them a faux patina. I then resin glazed them to bring out the gold and create a smooth shiny finish, like metal has.

The top two walnut draws had originally been french polished, and I knew they would look amazing after a gentle clean and wax - I wasn’t wrong! 😍. Both draws have tiny places of imperfection, but certainly nothing that warranted a total strip of finish, as they’re beautiful even before I waxed them!

All draws have been lined with beautiful paper, waxed inside and out, and the hardware has been cleaned and gold gilded.

The mirror is just SUCH a glorious shape - large and heavy! It has a slight, but perfect patina round the very edges.

This is just a beautiful piece and would make a real wow addition to a home. It could even be used as a sideboard in a living room, if desired ✨

🔸Two lower draws (with artwork) was hand drawn, then painted in gold, whites and greys, sealed with a topcoat, then waxed.

🔸’Metal’ strips were cut to the specific shapes/sizes and a hammered metal effect was created. Gold leaf was applied, then a darker glaze was applied to give a faux patina. A resin glaze was put over the top. Side strips have been secured using tiny, discreet nails.

🔸Mirror edge has been painted the same colour as the main body of the dresser, then waxed and mirror cleaned and buffed. The mirror back (the part that goes against the wall) was originally glossed white, which I have left as I didn’t want to possibly damage the mirror part whilst stripping it. (I know this part won’t show, but wanted to mention anyway!)

🔸The two arms that hold the mirror, were stripped and painted the same colour as the main body)

🔸Glass on top has been cleaned and buffed

🔸Draw top edges have also been painted and waxed

As with all furniture, I always recommend something protective under items (like cups, plant pots etc) to maintain the finish and keep it looking fresh.
