Up-cycled 1930s mahogany drinks cabinet, with a beautiful walnut veneer to the top and front, made by Aw-Lyn.

This particular piece belonged within one family and was passed down through the generations. It wasn’t in the best of states, initially; the veneer was cup stained, scratched and very dry! And the sides and feet were chipped, scraped and had some water damage. But I could see that with some work (which actually turned out to be rather a lot of work, haha😅) it could look beautiful again. And as you can see, she’s now looking very handsome indeed! ✨

Just to mention; there was a ring / cup mark on the top, hardly visible now (I’ve taken a close up picture, best I could - darker part is my reflection taking the photo!). The front veneer has some very fine cracks in places, again, isn’t noticeable as a whole piece and neither does it detract from its beauty (please see close up picture).

The 3 shelves are also removable, enabling taller items to fit if desired.

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS:

🔸 Whole piece carefully stripped of old finish, and major scratches / dings, scrapes sorted

🔸 Inside decoupaged in a gorgeous slightly textured paper, with pale gold cheetahs, birds and trees print. Then sealed for added protection

🔸 Veneer was stained, furniture oil applied to condition, then wax applied and buffed

🔸 Several coats of Farrow & Ball Pitch Black paint applied to the sides, feet, and all 3 shelves. Sealant and wax applied over the top for added protection

🔸 A blend of gold paints applied to the hardware and all trims, including shelf trims

🔸 A bronze gilding polish applied over all gold trims to give a more ‘lived in’ look, whilst maintaining the glamour✨

Like with all wooden furniture, I’d advise using something protective under drinks and plant pots etc, should the top be used for items like these. It just helps to protect the finish and keep it looking fresh 😊
