Art Deco Waring & Gillow Sideboard / Dresser

This was such a joyous find! And likely to be the only one of this exact design in existence as it was made ‘by appointment’. The craftsmanship is excellent - down to the carcass and dovetailing to the drawers - as you’d expect from such renowned makers of this period.
It is such a solid piece, with 3 drawers on each side and a shelf in the middle. The whole piece is made from mahogany and walnut (I have included a before picture within the photos as well as a couple of process pictures and draft drawing of swans).
The contrast in the figured walnut to the front drawers, side pieces and top piece is beautiful, and has a golden iridescence at certain angles. This was definitely something I wanted to enhance and restore closer to its former glory.
The simplistic stylised swans and grasses design in the central cubby hole section, is my own design that I added. The swans are made from a hard setting clay and painted to look like they’re calmly gliding in the moonlight (I can’t deny that working within that limited space area was a very challenging process though! 😅 hehe)
Inspiration for the artwork was the Duck Pond in Bushy Park, and St James’s Park at dusk. I then added and shaped wooden moulding half way around the bottom half of the cubby hole section, and applied gold gilding wax to it for a soft, golden sheen to represent reeds / grasses and compliment the overall design of the piece.
**Important note; the lights were only temporarily fixed in place for the video as I thought I’d give the choice to the buyer to use them, or not. I’m simply providing them with the piece as I think they look so effective lit up and represent moonlight beautifully. They simply attach with the sticky attachment pads that the manufacturer has provided with them. You’ll receive 2 lights in total with on/off switches, a usb charger, a remote control with a dimmer, a timer, choice of colour, and various configuration settings - they’re very simple to use. Please understand the lights are not part of my piece though, they’re simply an added extra I’m providing with it. So should the lights develop a fault, or damage occurs to the finish after attaching them, it’ll solely be the responsibility of the buyer to replace / restore the paintwork if need be, themselves.** (sorry for that boring bit! But it’s necessary info 😅❤️).
I hope you’ll consider this piece for a perfect addition to your home :-).
