Art Deco Walnut and Stained Glass Cabinet

This cabinet is just gorgeous and has its original leadlight glass door, 3 removable / adjustable shelves, and the opening/locking key! 😍.
I designed all the additional details to the sides of the door, out of clay, adding depth, tactility and further interest to compliment the original design. I have included my initial rough design sketch, and the before photo, within the photo album, to show the transformation.
The inspiration for my design was a beautiful Jay bird that I saw from my balcony (represented by the front soft metallic, coppery sections with turquoise tips). I also discovered that Jays are actually members of the crow family! So the bottom front details are to represent the iridescent greens and blues in black crow feathers.
The main body of the piece was painted in a custom created green, using a blending painting technique to create a wonderful soft patinated effect. The inside walnut back piece was refinished to enhance the dark and golden contrasts within the wood, and provides the perfect dramatic ‘backdrop’ to the leadlight door. I’m sure you’ll appreciate it’s now looking gorgeous! :-).
As with all my pieces, an incredible amount goes into them as well as love! Please see below for some of the process details for this piece.
*just as a note; there are a couple of very light surface scratches on the glass. To emphasise, they’re not cracks at all and aren’t something very obvious. Please do feel free to request close-up photos of these should you require them though :-).
Please also be aware that as the doors are made of glass, it would be the buyer’s responsibility to decide whether this piece is suitable for their home.

PROCESS HIGHLIGHTS:
🔸 Whole piece cleaned inside and out, old finish removed and wood lightly sanded
🔸 Old putty around the inside of the leadlight glass was carefully removed and re-secured with a traditional linseed putty, left to cure, then painted
🔸 Each section of glass and all lead cames very carefully cleaned on both sides of door
🔸 Inside of doorframe painted in off black
🔸 Inside and back-piece - old finish removed, finely sanded, then oiled, waxed and buffed
🔸 Each shelf - old finished removed on both sides, gently sanded, then oiled, waxed and buffed
🔸 Clay details hand cut, shaped, and placed onto either side of the front, finely sanded when dry, then painted with a blend of copper and blue metallic paint to give a very soft shimmer
🔸 Main body of outside piece (top and sides) had a custom created green paint applied and blended into a black base colour using a developed blending painting technique
🔸 Whole piece had a top coat sealer applied (top, sides and inbetween clay details had a matt finish. Clay details had a satin finish so as not to dull the metallics)
🔸 Bakelite keyhole covering/baseplate was cleaned, waxed and buffed
🔸 A little tassel was attached to the key with a vintage bead placed on the top for an extra detail and the finishing touch
*Please also be aware that vintage/antique items I sell may have age related marks / nicks / patina, especially depending on the age and original purpose of the item. I see the beauty and history in these, so will either leave them in, or work with them to add to the overall aesthetic of particular pieces*
